Lorsque Josephine passe par Vienne…

Vienna: French overlooking the St. Stephen’s cathedral
Vienne, Sofitel 2
The first stop of my trip this week in Vienna was indeed very French – the Sofitel, French hotel chain, housed in the tower designed by famous French architect Jean Nouvel, claims to offer one of the best views overlooking Vienna at its top floor lounge and restaurant – Le Loft.
Vienne, Loft 1
The restaurant is famous for its breakfast, maybe largely due to the view, but in any case worth giving a try. We arrived before dusk, it’s a pity it was a cloudy day, but the view was still overwhelming – with 3 sides full height glass façade, it provides an almost 360 degree view above one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Vienne, Loft, 2
Surrounded by dining area, a bar area is lifted up in the middle of the restaurant – what a place to have a few cocktails while watching the sun goes down… I had a few cocktails and beef tartar (bar snack, €16), as I can hardly refuse the temptation of a beef tartar at fine French restaurants… The drinks were well made, and the tartar was very nice – neat and refreshing, finely done, finally in real French style.

Next time I’ll have to try the restaurant.

Le Loft, a must in Vienna…
