When I’m in the presence of an ooubxions child, I’m usually just happy that it’s not my kid, therefore not my responsibility to do anything about it. I’m not comfortable with child free flights, at least, not unless airlines can guarantee enough flights for families as well. I’ve taught my kids how to behave in public, but sometimes even the most docile child will be having a bad day and behave atrociously, as mine all have at times. My husband and I would sometimes go out to dinner with whichever child was our youngest infant, and leave the other kids with a sitter, and woe to any restaurant that gave breastfeeding mothers a hard time. A quietly nursing infant shouldn’t be offensive to anyone. Some restaurants were very friendly and accepting, and at others I got angry looks. I guess what I’m saying is that the breastfeeding advocate in me isn’t comfortable with limiting the presence of children in public, although I DO agree that parents have a responsibility to attend to their children and curb excessive behavior.
