There is no good reason to stay close to the stitaon. Paris is a very compact city and public transportation is the best in the world. Staying close to the stitaon makes absolutely no sense whatever. $80 is about 60 euros. A very small sum for an expensive city that is the most visited tourist destination in the world. I suggest the Hotel Tiquetonne at 6 rue Tiquetonne in the 2nd arrondissement. that’s a good central location and a safe neighborhood. You can get a double for 55 euros. This is about as cheap as a real Hotel (as opposed to a Hostel) gets. they have no internet presence and they are often fully booked so you MUST reserve in advance.
